If you drive a BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Lexus, or another import or European vehicle in Northwest Arkansas, you already know the dealership experience: long waits, premium prices, and sometimes a repair estimate that makes you wonder if you bought the wrong car.
Here’s what a lot of NWA import owners don’t know: you have a better option.
Adam’s AutoWerks in Lowell, AR specializes in import and European vehicle diagnostics and repair. We use the same diagnostic equipment the dealerships use. We work on the same vehicles. We just do it with more personal attention, faster turnaround, and significantly lower overhead — which means significantly lower prices for you.
What “Dealership-Level Expertise” Actually Means
We don’t use that phrase lightly. Here’s what it looks like in practice:
The first vehicle Adam’s AutoWerks ever worked on as a shop was a Porsche Cayenne S — a full engine swap. Word spread fast. Since then we’ve worked on BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, Volvos, Land Rovers, Lexus vehicles, and more across NWA.
We’ve also corrected dealership diagnostic errors. Customers have come to us after a dealership handed them an estimate — sometimes for thousands of dollars in parts — and we’ve diagnosed the actual problem, which turned out to be something different and significantly cheaper to fix. In one case, we saved a customer over $5,000 compared to what the dealership’s diagnostic report called for.
That’s not a knock on all dealerships. But it is a real pattern we see, and it’s why we always say: get a second opinion before you authorize a major repair.

Why Import Maintenance Is Different
European and import vehicles often have different service intervals, fluid specifications, and diagnostic requirements than domestic vehicles. Using the wrong oil in a BMW, for example, can void warranty coverage and cause real damage over time. European vehicles often specify long-life synthetic oils with specific viscosity ratings and approvals — not just whatever’s on sale.
This is one of the most common ways independent shops get import service wrong: they treat it like a domestic vehicle and use whatever parts and fluids are cheapest. We don’t do that. We spec the right fluids and parts for your specific vehicle, every time.
Common Import Repairs We Handle in NWA
- Oil service with manufacturer-specified synthetic oil
- Brake service — pads, rotors, fluid flush
- Suspension and steering — control arms, tie rods, wheel bearings
- Engine diagnostics and repair
- Transmission service and repair
- Cooling system service
- AC service
- Pre-purchase inspections — before you buy a used import, have us look at it first
- Check engine light diagnosis — we find the actual cause, not just the code
That last one is worth expanding on. A check engine light code tells you which system triggered the fault. It doesn’t tell you why. A P0420 catalyst code, for example, could be a failing catalytic converter — or it could be an O2 sensor, an exhaust leak, or a fuel system issue. Replacing the cat without diagnosing the root cause is expensive and often doesn’t fix the problem. We dig until we find the actual answer.
